Real Christmas Trees now in store!

25 November 2010

From the week beginning  23rd of November we will begin to have on sale the bulk of our cut Christmas trees.

To make sure choosing your Christmas tree is a pleasurable part of your preparations we have made a wonderful winter scene in our plant area. At the weekends we have a warming log fire and are pleased to offer you freshly roasted chestnuts and other refreshments; there will even be some freshly made Mulled wine available!

In recent years the Nordmann fir has dominated the UK tree market, popular because of its strong needle holding qualities and full rounded shape with few gaps between branches. The old fashioned spruce has become less and less popular due to its heavy needle drop, sharp needles and generally less attractive shape. Therefore we will only be stocking Nordmann fir from our Regular Irish grower as this is a reliable quality tree that people come back for year after year.

The sizes range from 125-250cm and are priced from £29.99-£59.99.We provide a welcoming covered shopping environment with plenty of staff to help you choose your tree and take it to the car for you. Also this year if you return your Christmas tree to us in January, we will chip it and donate mulch to charity and you will receive a voucher for a free filter coffee/tea during January and February.

From Friday the 26th of November we will be having a one of delivery of giant Nordmann fir ranging in height from 250-400cm.These massive specimens would be ideal to make an impact outside commercial premises, schools or Large homes. We are only ordering ten large trees so please buy early, prices range from £110-£190.

Alongside our trees we will of course supply a range of tree stands in a variety of sizes and colours. We also have a selection of handmade fir and holly wreaths as well as mistletoe to decorate front doors and around the home.

For gardeners we have various plant gifts including winter flowering baskets, herb planters, decorated bay and olive trees and holly bushes in various shapes with red berries showing.

We look forward to seeing you.

The Big Day, Santa arrives

17 November 2010

Well we are all ready to go and really excited to welcome Santa to Brookfields this Saturday 20th. He is arriving at 12 p.m. in a flurry of falling snow travelling in a carriage with 2 beautiful horses, accompanied by our very own Swan Princess from one of our Christmas themes. His journey will take him past Brookfields to the Coppice road roundabout then back to our main entrance (which will be a spectacular winter scene by the way).

The programme for the day is as follows

11.55 p.m. Carlton brass Training band will begin to play

12.00 p.m. Santa arrives and is escorted to his grotto

12.30 p.m.        The Grotto will open to receive Santa's first visitors.

1.00 pm approx Carlton Brass will play their second session

2.00-3.30 pm    The Bluecoat singers will perform with a short break in between

4.00 p.m.          Santa will close the Grotto until the next day

The charge for the Grotto is £1, all of which is donated to Rainbows, the East Midlands Hospice for children and young people. Your children will spend some time chatting with Santa, then he will say goodbye offering them a candy cane treat. They will also receive a wish tag upon which they can write what they would like most for Christmas then hang it on the Wish tree sitting by the Grotto. We do not cover our costs with our Grotto- every penny taken goes straight to Rainbows- it really does make a huge difference.

Carlton Brass will be very pleased to receive donations towards their training band fund and the Bluecoat singers are raising funds for Framework- we are grateful for your support.

Rainbows will also be on site selling their own Charity Christmas cards.

The other events we have include Caricature portraits created by Pete Dredge, cartoonist for The Guardian and Private Eye to name but 2- a fabulous gift idea and memento of the day. We have a skilled face painter, food tastings and a staff fancy dress competition- the team have worked really hard on their costumes so place your vote for the best costume at Customer Services.

We look forward to welcoming you to the store and sharing a fun filled day with you.

Santa will be in residence every weekend up to 18th/19th December then from 20th to 23rd December- we have to give him time to get ready for his travels!
