Charity and Community Work

Our work with the local community has included supporting local schools with fund raising fairs and events, welcoming school choirs to perform for our Customers at Christmas which they all really enjoy. We have also welcomed many young people from local Secondary schools on work experience as part of their coursework, our aim being to give them a real taste for the world of work and motivation to apply themselves.

We are members of Professional Trade bodies both the Horticultural Trades Association and the Garden Centre Association. We feature in the G.C.A. top 100 Garden centres nationally and have won awards and commendations for our displays.

We adopt a charity every year to enable us to make a meaningful donation so all our fundraising efforts are directed to one association. So far we have worked with Rainbows Hospice, ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ and this year our named Charity is The Nottinghamshire Hospice.  Our efforts so far over the last 3 years have raised around £20k and have made a great deal of difference.

Working with schools. Engaging with many local schools both Primary and Secondary we have actively encouraged interest in Gardening. In particular we have been working very closely with Porchester Junior School Gardening club to help them make a relaxing and enjoyable zone in their rather plain playground- we supply the materials but the work is all theirs.

The unique St Ann’s Allotments Heritage Garden project. We have donated a natural wildlife hedge, numerous bedding and vegetable plants, garden structures and liaised with David Austin Roses who donated a number of Standard roses for their Victorian Garden. The National importance of this amazing urban space is an issue we are very keen to support.
